Career Pathways
The Valley Regional Occupational Program (VROP) has been preparing Selma Unified students for college and careers since 1971. In collaboration with local colleges, community businesses, and workforce development, VROP offers engaging and rigorous career technical education (CTE) classes in various industry sectors. Instructors utilize hands-on, project-based learning that prepare students for post-secondary education and employment in today’s competitive economy.
CTE classes not only equip students with crucial skills for their future careers but also inspire them to pursue post-secondary education by presenting a pathway of interest and emphasizing the significance of furthering their education in that particular field.
Currently, VROP offers 17 pathways at Selma High. These courses are open to all students, some as early as ninth grade. Several of these pathways offer dual enrollment, enabling students to earn several college credits before graduating from high school.
VROP students receive personalized and ongoing career and college advising and navigation support, ensuring they make informed decisions about their education and career pathways. They also earn industry credentials sought by employers, enabling them to successfully launch their careers with valuable skills and confidence.
